TERMS AND CONDITIONS - COURSES AND EVENTS

Registration

Registrations are on a first-come basis. The Canadian Association of Petroleum Land Administration (CAPLA) will accept orders on line and will process payment electronically (Visa or MasterCard) or through invoicing paid by cash or cheque. You must be an active member of CAPLA in order to take advantage of member pricing.

Cancellation

By participant: CAPLA will reimburse course fees provided a participant withdraws in writing (fax, email or Canada Post) 30 days prior to the date of a course. If a participant fails to cancel registration within this time, a refund will not be issued; however, a substitute may be sent in place of the registered participant. If a participant is unable to find a substitute, but we are able to fill the spot from the waiting list, we will issue a refund minus an administration charge of $50.00. Companies that initially register a non-member and substitute a member will not be reimbursed the balance of the fee. CAPLA will charge a $50.00 administration charge on all cancelled registrations. CAPLA will approve cancelation requests of paid course registrations when the request is made in writing (fax, email, or Canada Post) up to 10 business days prior to the advertised course date. CAPLA will reimburse course fees for all approved cancelations minus a $50 (including GST) administration fee during this period. If a participant fails to cancel registration within this time, a refund will not be issued; however a substitute may be sent in place of the registered participant. Course materials will not be sent to registrants unable to attend a course. Substitutions will be allowed for paid course registrations between members employed in the same organization. When notice is given up to 5 business days before an advertised course date, an achievement certificate will be printed in the name of the substitute and distributed on the course date. When notice is given less than 5 business days before a course date the certificate will be mailed to the substitute as soon as possible after the course is completed. By CAPLA: CAPLA reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any course prior to the published start date. We will make every effort to reschedule the course to an alternative date that suits the participants. If rescheduled dates are not suitable, CAPLA will refund the full registration fee. CAPLA event registration is non-refundable but can be transferred to another individual.

Course Materials

CAPLA provides course materials only to individuals who register for and attend courses. It is our goal to provide educational opportunities to the membership as well as to the industry as a whole and we feel that this is best achieved if the materials are accompanied by qualified instruction. Course materials will not be provided under any circumstances to individuals who do not attend courses.

Course Development & Review

Our mandate is to develop and incorporate new courses into the education portfolio and to continually review the content of existing courses to ensure that they are meeting or exceeding industry standards. If you have any ideas for new courses or have attended a course that you think needs significant review, please contact the Education Director.
